Seven students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and one student from the Faculty of Arts have been nominated to go to Japan on an exchange programme. The seven students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine will spend two weeks at Yamaguchi University under the Inter-university exchange programme between Kenya and Japan.
Mr. James Okumu, a third-year student at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences was nominated under the Hokkaido University Short Term Exchange Program (HUSTEP). He will spend one year at Hokkaido University. The University of Nairobi and Hokkaido University have had a good relationship and a fruitful partnership for many years.
The Hokkaido University Short-Term Exchange Program (HUSTEP) is designed to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to study in Japan at Hokkaido University. Participants in this program take a wide variety of classes offered in English in HUSTEP’s two core divisions: Culture and Society, and Science, Technology, and Environment. Students also have the chance to study the Japanese language.
In addition, some participants can pursue independent research under the guidance of a faculty member. There will also be opportunities to take part in numerous traditional and contemporary Japanese cultural activities. Finally, students admitted to the program are eligible to apply for a scholarship.
