UON BLOOD DRIVE

On 14th and 15th of October 2022, The Rotaract club of the University of Nairobi in partnership with university of Nairobi, Kenya National Transfusion Service and Equity Afia, held a UON blood drive at the university of Nairobi graduation square.

The program offered free health services including, Blood drive, Breast cancer screening, dental checks, nutritional checks, optical checks, blood pressure, VCT services and mental health awareness. These services were offered to enable students and staffs know their health standings. 

Students and staff from different faculties visited the camp and had a series of tests and also donating blood through Kenya National Transfusion Service. Blood donation was conducted to curb the shortage of blood in the country since the demand of blood in health centres is rising day in day out.

Talking to students, the highest female blood donor in Kenya and also blood ambassador Madam Aisha Dafalla, encouraged students and staff to donate and be regular donors so as to secure our country and those we love. She shared her donation story whereby she said that, she started donating at the age of 19 years and she donates in every four months.
