UoN switches on it's channels signal-UNC TV and Radio

Friday, January 14, 2022 will go down in history as the day the University of Nairobi switched on its channels signal; tagged UNC TV and UNC Radio.

“We are here to witness history unfolding today! This is the moment we have all been waiting for - to have our own TV and radio station,” exclaimed the VC, Prof. Stephen Kiama.

The tag line for UNC TV is, ‘Empowering you’ and the UNC Radio is, ‘Sound of Knowledge’. UNC TV can be accessed through signet frequency 602.

University of Nairobi 66th Graduation Ceremony

The University of Nairobi held its 66th graduation ceremony on 17th December, 2021. On this occasion, the University celebrated the hard work of 6,647 graduands, ushering them out into the world to utilize their knowledge, skills and behavior to build the nation and serve their communities.

Speaking during the 66th graduation ceremony, the Chancellor, University of Nairobi, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi, urged the graduating class to always remain determined and hopeful.

Launch of multimedia medical training on COVID-19

The Rotary group in Kenya and abroad in collaboration with the University of Nairobi, the World Wide Medical Education and the University College of London launched a COVID-19 Multimedia Medical training project on 24th November, 2021.

Given the chilling experience of COVID-19 in the past two years, it was imperative that effective interventions be made to reduce COVID-19 related mortalities among health workers, community health workers and ultimately their patients.

Research Week 2021

The long awaited Research Week 2021 is finally here and the numbers are quite impressive. There are over 500 participants, 30+ keynote presentations, 150 abstracts, and 8 conferences with the overarching theme ‘Rethinking Research, Innovation & Technology for Sustainable Development.’

Global leaders call for fair deal for Africa at COP26

Global leaders have called for a fair deal for Africa at the COP26 conference in Glasgow. This was the clarion call by the leaders, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, at the launch of the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) “State and Trends in Adaptation in Africa Report 2021 – How Adaptation Can Make Africa Safer, Greener and More Prosperous in a Warming World” (STA21).

International Students Day

On Friday 22nd October 2021, the University of Nairobi held its first ever International Students day themed, ‘Cultural developments and interactions.’

This was a very significant day in the university's calendar of events  given that UoN is home to around 2,000 international students representing various  nationalities from across the globe most of which come from neighbouring countries like Somalia, Southern Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania.
